We celebrated a New Years party with the power of crypto.
Our goal was to rent out a bar for old and new friends but there was a cost. We thought — let’s use Comet to crowdfund and invite everyone who was interested in having a good time.
Not only did the event bring together a community of people excited to celebrate the new year, but it also onboarded 100 people into the world of crypto without any friction.
How We Did It
The process of organizing the party was made easy with Comet. A ticket was issued as a Solana NFT and the checkout process was simple, with passwordless login and credit card payment required. A closed group feed was also used to share important information and for attendees to share their experiences.
The magic of the event happened when new members were onboarded with a Solana based wallet. This wallet stored the ticket and made it easy to view and share through a mobile app that was launched for the event. All of this was cloud-based, so the NFT could be accessed from any platform.
Inspiration
The wallet can be used as a store of value for reward passes, event passes, or even payments. The feed serves as a lightweight solution for communication and event organization, similar to Facebook events. Attendance can even be tracked on Solana mainnet, providing a record of proof and a way for organizations to reward loyalty. With the Comet SDK, gasless transactions are also possible, enabling incentives and boosting participation within the community.
Overall, Comet made our lives easier for hosting this event. And there is so much more that can be done with this platform! We hope that this example will inspire others to try out Comet for their own communities and activities.
